Foiling & Raised Foiling
Metallic or pigmented foil bonded to chosen areas of a piece using heat and pressure.
About foiling & raised foiling
Foiling presses a thin metallic or pigmented film onto selected parts of a design. The finish is reflective in a way printed ink cannot reproduce, because it is a foil surface rather than a layer of pigment sitting on the stock.
Raised foiling applies the same foil over a built-up base, so the element stands proud of the sheet and combines the reflectivity with relief. Like other finishing steps, both are applied after printing and need to be accounted for while the artwork is being prepared.
